I'm trying to upgrade and old server from the 3.0.23 to the 3.0.26

version (suse93->suse103)
  (for brevity, abbreviating 3.0.23->.23, and 3.0.26->.26)

It's not working as smoothly as I had hoped...and was wondering if anyone has seen similar behavior or if I have some "gotcha" that I haven't kept up on (quite possible, since I move my focus from product to product doing upgrades as needed and usually end up missing some notices about products when my nose is buried elsewhere...) Any clue sticks, as always, gratefully
appreciated...:-)
(linda)

Observations:
- Can reinstall old or new multiple times and behavior is 'stable' (dfferent between versions,
  but stable/version)
- Old works on 12 shares, new works with 3 shares.
- smb.conf file identical between two; using text files for password/group
- No obvious pattern between working and not working shares
- changed non-working shares to same params of working shares -- no difference - main client is win-XP2; have 2ndary test client running 3.0.26 (which works with server
  at .23, but not with server at .26)
