Brian, What other use could you imagine for TFTP except uploading firmware to certain Cisco, Cabletron, AXIS, etc, etc devices? As its name specifies, its Trivial, as far a I know has no real error correction, security,etc. I believe it was thought of for one way only and definitely point to point. I used to have Sambar on my notebook exactly for this: start TFTP, drop firmware file in serving /tftpboot/ directory, point device to Sambar's IP and begin device's firmware upload/update. Many modern devices developers have dropped TFTP in favour of browser based HTTP uploads as you don't need the extra server to be readily available and most of these devices have an embedded micro HTTP server for configuration needs anyway.
