Hope someone has a creative solution for me....

Been running a group of mailing lists for schools with great results for a
few years. Recently we got hit with some spam on these lists so I need to
turn on some security. I had intentionally left it wide open so a teacher
in building A could use the mail list to reach all the teachers in building
B without being a member of building B (so they would not get all the
building B email).

So I decide I'll change the mail list setting to only allow list subscribers
to post - this will eliminate the building A to B thing but we all need to
make sacrifices. Here is where I ran into a problem. The names of users in
the mailing lists is just the user name (jsmith) and not the entire email
address ([EMAIL PROTECTED]). Thus, no one could send mail over the lists.
I'd change all the entries to reflect the entire email address, BUT we are
making a (slow) change over to a nicer domain name so some clients are using
the old domain name (long.school.address.edu) and some using the new one
(school.edu).
If I put both email names in the list, everyone will get two copies.

Any ideas?
