I have seen a bit of this if the person has access to a very large directory and the
server has to compare their space limitation to a large directory(example below
user1). This has only happened on put commands and does not appear to happen on users
with a smaller path.
Example:
DATA (600MB, user1 home dir)
HOME1 (20MB, user2 home dir)
HOME2 (20MB, user3 home dir)
HOME3 (20MB, user4 home dir)
etc..
etc..
etc..
