The Sambar mail is a normal POP server. As for sending mail I use Sambar because my ISP's email server hasn't seemed to be reliable. I had to allow my IP to do this however. I don't think the SMTP server uses an AUTH to send outside of webmail. I think it only works with IP addresses you have allowed to relay but not with just a username and password on an http server like hotmail.
