I dont know what your customers budget is but we use a watchguard firebox II between our network and the internet and it supports real time filtering of all smpt trafic based on either content or file extension or both. It's real slick because it's realtime there is no mail delay, it even replaces the attachments it removes with a text file explaining why. www.watchguard.com it cost us about $5000.00 in Canadian pacos and has several other advanced features.
