Dear Developpers,
I use polishbam (bamUtil) to improve my BAM headers by adding PG and other
important lines.
It would be nice (unless I overlooked) to have a similar tool to add any header
line to a BAM file.
picard has now ‘ReplaceSamHeader’ which requires a full header be prebuilt (not
so nice and error prone because of the ‘tab’ separator issues)
it also has ‘AddCommentsToBam’ which does for CO tags but not for others.
I would love to have ‘AddHeaderBlabla' for any supported Header line and allow
building portable data in the form of BAM files with all important meta info
included in the header.
Could this be done, please!
