Hello folks,

in an effort to support development on modern platforms as well as giving
the community sufficient notice of significant migrations, I would like to
propose the following plan for minimum Java version for HTSJDK.  I will
welcome comments until April 6th 2015 at which a time we will make a
decision based upon the communities feedback and discussion.  You can reply
to this email thread or comment on the htsjdk github issue:

We will support all Java SE versions supported by Oracle until at least six
months after Oracle's Public Updates period has ended (see:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/eol-135779.html).
