The TS8050 is connected via USB.
I have quite a fast computer and a race condition or other timing
problem could well be the cause.

Make sure you update your Sane installation.
Your device is known!
In a console type the commands below:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:rolfbensch/sane-git
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt install libsane libsane-common sane-utils
