Not knowingly.  It's conceivable, but I think unlikely, that some
Ubuntu update quietly enabled something like that -- but I suspect
it was just a matter of the scanner having recovered from a power
failure faster than the DHCP server.  I power-cycled the scanner
earlier today and it reported having gotten its normal IP address back.
