Greetings to all, @List.
I have a PIXMA TS9100 series multifunction device – specifically, the
TS9160 – which is listed as not yet having been reported to work (or not
work) via SANE. In this instance, although not quite a Schrödinger's cat
scenario, SANE does both work and NOT work. Let me explain:
The device is connected via USB to a Desktop machine which multiboots
Debian 10, and Manjaro (current). SANE functionality works as expected
on Manjaro but not on Debian – The scanner isn't found either by the
SANE interface or Simple-Scan.
Canon's ScanGearMP2, however, works as expected on Debian. The only
obvious differences are the respective versions between Debian and
Manjaro installations:
Debian:
* Canon ScanGear MP v2 -- 3.50-1 (the ONLY version available from Canon)
* SANE: 1.0.14
Manjaro
* Canon ScanGear MP v2 -- 3.90-1 (installed from ArchLinux AUR)
* SANE: 1.0.31
I hope to have the device functioning through the SANE interface on
Debian, or if ultimately not possible, at least to leave some
breadcrumbs for those who may follow.
Thanks in advance to whoever can help with this quest.
