                       Hello,
Most probably I am not the first one to ask that question but is there any way
to get a Canoscan LiDE 500f to work via the sane-genesys backed? I tried to add
it manually (on my own risk and with a hand at the scanner's plug) to the
genesys.conf but it didn't work out.
The common "sudo sane-find-scanner" delivers:
found possible USB scanner (vendor=0x04a9 [Canon], product=0x221f [CanoScan],
chip=GL842) at libusb:001:004could not fetch string descriptor: Pipe error

Is there anything that I could try?
With best regards,Martin
