I suspect the scanner may be going to sleep. Some older models had problems waking up. Questions:
1. what other model scanners have the problem? 2. how long do you wait between scans when this happens? 3. if you press a button on the scanner before you scan, does the problem happen? 4. Have you tried another computer? if you want, you could gather some logs and send them to me.
