True, but unfortunately this causes a lot of problems for people that don't have a snapscan scanner. The snapscan backend identifies the scanner by sending an "inquiry" command to the USB scanner. While this is common for SCSI scanners it's not that common for USB scanners, and some USB scanners (from vendors other than Agfa or Acer) are reported to crash / freeze when receiving an inquiry command. So, to be on the safe side, the user has to change the configuration file manually (assuming that he knows what he's doing) to access the USB scanner. Regards, Oliver
