Actually on Debian 2.2r3, not Redhat 7.0; the subject line is a valiant
attempt to get this message into the thread starting with 2001-07/0003, on
sane-devel.
For some time, I had the same compilation problem Matt describes, and it
went away when I took the following two steps:
1 Upgraded my lic6-dev package from 2.1.3-18 to 2.2.3-9 (I already
had lic6 2.2.3-9.)
2 Installed the libjpeg62-dev package (version 6b-1.2.)
Unfortunately, I don't know why this worked, what the side-effects might
be, or whether Redhat breaks things up into packages in a sufficiently
similar way to Debian to make it possible for Redhat users to follow this.
