Hi Henning, Thanks for your very speedy response, it helped me out a lot!
I had already downloaded and compiled the latest version of SANE since the RPM packaged version that came with Suse 7.3 caused the system to hang as soon as I started to scan something (I also had to specify the backend and device on the command line before it would do anything at all). I mention this just in case anyone else is having the same problem. After a lot of trial and error (and a few strange noises) I found that the optimal x_range.max and y_range.max values are 292.9 and 217.2 respectively. Increasing the X value produced more scan data, but I was not too keen on the resulting noise. Increasing the Y value also produced more scan data but it was distorted at the edge. I would love to test the scanner (a Mustek Paragon 600 II CD for those who have not read my previous post)under windows, but I have a problem. After changing the motherboard in my computer the Twain driver could no longer find the DTC3181E SCSI card. I decided to buy an Adaptec AVA 1505, but that was not detected either. So I turned to Linux and SANE which works very well. Just one more reason to love open source projects I guess. Anyway, thanks again for your valued assistance and sorry for any useless details. Kindest regards, Eric. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
