Hello, I use a mandrake9 (kernel 2.4.19) distribution with a rpm version of sane installed. But i use too a Canon FB320P scanner (parallel port) which is not recognised by this version of sane.
So i decided to install the new version of sane (1.0.9). I have read on several documents on the web that it was necessary to uninstall the original package to be able to install the new "compilated" version. It's done. First, i installed the new version of ieee1284 library (version libiee1284-0.2.5), i added usr/local/lib to etc/ld.so.conf and run ldconfig After that, i installed sane backends, checked that the libsane-canon_pp.so was in the usr/local/lib/sane folder, deleted the # symbol from the /usr/local/etc/sane.d/dll.conf file Finally i installed sane frontends and xsane and lanched xsane. The program open a window where i had to choose to accept th terms, i was agree :-) after that, it seems to run but it stop and the following message appears in the xterm xsane: relocation error: /usr/local/lib/sane/libsane-hpsj5s.so.1: undefined symbol: ieee1284_find_ports Thanks for your help, Frédéric
