Dear Group For the last 18 months I have been trying to make the transition to Linux. I purchased an Epson C80 printer and the 1650 Photo scanner as these were documented as supported by Sane. And so they are.
I have no difficulty scanning images, saving them etc. For the first time I have tried to use OCR but have run into a problem. I have acquired a preview, then selected the area of text I want to scan in. Next I moved to the scanner window and pressed Start. The image is scanned in and a new window called Viewer appears with the text in it. I clicked on the second button ABCDEF and the file dialogue window appeared offering the name/path of /home/stephanos/out.txt in which to save the text. I pressed OK. However after pressing OK nothing happened. The file is not created and no further activity takes place. I was at least expecting that the words that were not recognised would be flagged up. Any help appreciated Stephen (Swansea, Wales, UK) -- __________________________________________________________ Sign-up for your own FREE Personalized E-mail at Mail.com http://www.mail.com/?sr=signup
