No, I just meant that this scanner was also designed from an existing parallel port scanner model by simply :) adding a parallel-to-usb chip. So I thought, maybe the design(er) of the SANE backend for this scanner will be helpful. (On the other hand, maybe another way to go would be writing a generic kernel module for the GL640, providing a pseudo lp interface; then the existing parallel plustek backend might fit above that.
