I have one HP ScanJet 5550c scanner here at the office that only works for my colleagues with Windows XP and Mac OS X.
It has an ADF (extremely important in my case) and looks like this: http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm/WF05a/15179-64195-215155-15202-215155-77360.html This scanner doesn't seem to be reported/supported/worked on. Am I wrong? I am unexperienced with the C language but have been programming for five years at work (mainly PHP nowadays but also a little C++). However, if this scanner is somewhat similar to other scanners with series numbers close to 55xx, maybe I can help out converting a similar backend and testing/patching to make this scanner supported. I don't think I can write one from scratch. I have no experience from this kind of development before (hardware drivers for linux). If such a development process is already going on for this scanner, I'd love to help sending test reports and such. I guess I should attach the sane-find-scanner -v -v but first I'd like to know if it is necessary.
