Mea culpa. I found the reason for the GUI-crashes this morning. When I see a file with a conf-extension, I cannot resist :-) My plustek_pp.conf contained the lines: |option warmup 10 |option lOffOnEnd 1 |option lampOff 30 The last line causes xsane & xscanimage to crash. The lamp switches off 30s after program start. Then the next mouse click kills the GUI. I could reproduce this several times. After changing back the last line to default value (-1) both programs run rock-solid. > Yep! I will, but not on my current setup. I've seen the required versions of some libs to compile the current CVS source. I would have a lot of trouble on Debian Sarge with dependencies and don't want to break other applications. But I'll find a partition to install a distri with more recent packages.
