Hi there, I have the same problem with my Xerox WorkCentre PE16. This multifunction printer is the same as Samsung SCX-4216F and Lexmark X215 MFP (see: http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20050912064001292), and WorkCentre PE16 is reported to work on Mac OS X with Samsung's driver.
I am using Ubuntu 5.10 (kernel 2.6.12). Samsung's driver package contain backends for: "MFP 560 Series", "MFP 750 Series", "SCX 4x20 Series", "SCX 4100 Series", "SCX 6x20 Series", "SCX 4x21 Series", "SCX 4x16 Series" and "SCX 4200 Series". I have tried: 4x20, 4100, 4x16 and 4200 -- and all of them cause segmentation fault with "scanimage -d" and complain about "mfpport.ko" and "mfpportprobe.ko" as mentioned by Prajjwal Devkota. The package also contains a fancy GUI that's supposed to detect the scanner, and it doesn't detect anything, nor does "sane-find-scanner". As I would really like to use my scanner, I'll be more than happy to give any information necessary and to report on any suggested solution to this problem.
