You could try to disable this backend in dll.conf and look if it still happens (e.g. with "xsane test"). If it doesn't happen it's most probably a problem in the hpoj or hpaio backend and not in xsane. Enabling debugging in xsane and the backend may also show the position of the crash. Bye, Henning
