If I uncomment the "option dumb-read" line, I still have the same
issue. I did "scanimage --verbose >test.ppm" and got:
$ scanimage --verbose >test.ppm
scanimage: scanning image of size 2550x3507 pixels at 1 bits/pixel
scanimage: acquiring gray frame
scanimage: sane_read: Error during device I/O
$
So it looks like it's trying to scan, but isn't getting anywhere.
And after all that, the scanner just made noise again, as though it were
going to start a scan or something.Terrence
