there are a couple of similar bug reports in the tracker, and recent threads on this mailing list, and i have one that does this as well. it seems that these scanners have a very buggy usb 1.0 interface, and only work properly on some machines. mine works fine on SCSI. if you must use usb, i think a new scanner is in order.
btw- Xsane is not SANE, its a front-end program. SANE is a separate packages of drivers (backends) which will have a version number more like 1.0.19 allan 2008/3/11 Reto Bachmann-Gm?r <reto at gmuer.ch>: > I'm using a scanjet 6200C and I was wondering if getting a new scanner > would improve my scanning experience or if I just have to wait till sane > 1.0 (currently using sane 0.994 on gentoo, a while ago I had similar > experiences with ubuntu and debian) > > reto at latelap:~$ xsane #no scanner found > reto at latelap:~$ xsane > xsane: hp-option.c:3713: hp_optset_fix_geometry_options: Assertion `tl_x > && tl_y && br_x && br_y' failed. > Aborted > reto at latelap:~$ xsane #the preview window shows up without content > reto at latelap:~$ xsane > xsane: hp-option.c:3567: sanei_hp_optset_scanmode: Assertion `mode' failed. > > Aborted > reto at latelap:~$ xsane # no scanner again > reto at latelap:~$ xsane > xsane: hp-option.c:3713: hp_optset_fix_geometry_options: Assertion `tl_x > && tl_y && br_x && br_y' failed. > > Aborted > reto at latelap:~$ xsane # great it works! > > > CHeers, > reto > > > -- > sane-devel mailing list: sane-devel at lists.alioth.debian.org > http://lists.alioth.debian.org/mailman/listinfo/sane-devel > Unsubscribe: Send mail with subject "unsubscribe your_password" > to sane-devel-request at lists.alioth.debian.org > -- "The truth is an offense, but not a sin"
