I just tried on Ubuntu 8.04 with: Sane CVS xsane 0.995 a Canon MP610 both for scanning and printing (Canon driver for printing)
Create a new printer in "copy" tab under preferences, leave the default options: Command: lpr Num of copies: -# 150 dpi scan for both color and grayscale Embed scanner ICM profile as CSA (left checked by default) Create a postscript image (left checked by default) Then choose "Copy" in xsane menu and click the scan button (all other options left as default) And it works fine for me. Also tried with a new printer named GtkLP (command: gtklp) and use cups-pdf as printer and looks to work fine too. This does not help you too much, but would look rather like a print set up issue ?
