Hello, When I run scanimage -L as a regular user and as root, I get two different results
$ sudo scanimage -L [sudo] password for apu: WARNING: Unhandled message: interface=org.freedesktop.DBus.Introspectable, path=/, member=Introspect device `epkowa:usb:001:006' is a Epson Stylus CX8300/CX8400/DX8400 flatbed scanner $ scanimage -L WARNING: Unhandled message: interface=org.freedesktop.DBus.Introspectable, path=/, member=Introspect device `epkowa:usb:001:006' is a Epson (unknown model) flatbed scanner Correspondingly, I cannot scan as regular user, but I can as root. When I start iscan, I get "Could not send command to scanner" in a popup, and the terminal where I started iscan from shows $ iscan WARNING: Unhandled message: interface=org.freedesktop.DBus.Introspectable, path=/, member=Introspect I have $ lsusb|grep -i eps Bus 001 Device 006: ID 04b8:0839 Seiko Epson Corp. CX8300/CX8400/DX8400 (the multifunction is a CX8400) and $ dpkg-query -l iscan|grep isc ii iscan 2.22.1-2.ltdl7 simple, easy to use scanner utility for EPSON scanners on a 64 bit ubuntu 9.10 box.
