The usb interface looks simple enough, very few endpoints. Can you get a trace of the windows driver making a small black and white scan using this tool: http://www.pcausa.com/Utilities/UsbSnoop/ Then zip the log, and send it to the list. Perhaps someone will recognize the protocol. There are individuals on this list who will write and/or modify drivers.
