hi Theo,
I do regard this as a feature of the scanner. I used to have an MP970 that
consistently showed similar behavior: as soon as the USB cable was
connected the network connection would not work anymore. With my MP980 it
sometimes works, at other times not..... I still have not been able to
find any logic in the behavior
