Hi there, in my opinion from the outside SANE can easily be mistaken for a unmaintained/stale project, whereas many (but definitely not all) aspects of the project are functioning all right.
On the one hand, we should try to improve the under-performing aspects. On the other hand, I think it is a good workaround and maybe even a valid solution to make people focus on the good parts and redirect them there should they somehow stumble over the bad parts. In this spirit I propose the following really simple change to the IRC Topic: The current topic for #sane is: ----- ----- SANE (Scanner Access Now Easy) | Homepage: http://www.sane-project.org | Current versions: sane-backends 1.0.19 | sane-frontends 1.0.14 | If you can only scan as root on Linux, read README.linux: http://www.sane-project.org/README.linux | Please be patient, we'll answer you if we're around. ----- ----- The proposed topic for #sane is: ----- ----- SANE (Scanner Access Now Easy) | Homepage: http://www.sane-project.org | In addition to #sane, there is the sane-devel mailing list, and honestly it's quite likely that you get more feedback over there: http://lists.alioth.debian.org/mailman/listinfo/sane-devel ----- ----- Any comments? Who can enact this change? Best Regards Michael
