Hello Johannes,
thanks a lot for the link [1].
I am hunting for an open-source solution for "user-authentication -> copy-configuration -> scanning -> printing -> copy-counting" in a (non-commercial) setup of about 3-5 systems in a client-server setting .
A linux-client with a touch-screen could control the copier and serve as a workaround of the copiers user interface.
The authentication and a copy-counting should be done by a linux-server that communicates with the
linux-clients (3-5 systems).
I am in doubt, whether the scan-to-email approach would be sufficient (and fast enough).
A3-scanners with a duplex ADF seem to be (much) too expensive for a "buy and try".
A(n older) copier with a scanning-device supported by sane (and by some cups driver) would
provide the greatest freedom to "play around".
Is this feasible? What do you think?
Best regards,
Jan

Hello, only a general question: On Nov 20 14:57 [email protected] wrote (excerpt): > i am searching for a multifunction copier, such as a > Toshiba eStudio 230 or an older Konica Minolta bizhub copier, > that is supported by some sane-backend (via usb or lan). Both the Toshiba eStudio 230 and Konica Minolta bizhub mdels look as if they are professional network printer scanner copier all-in-one devices. If yes, I wonder why you need any SANE driver/backend software to use them? Cf.
