CACOPHONY
sound collage // abstract mash ups
Gestalt Listening = The cognition of present sound as a whole rather than the
focussing on particular sounds, letting all sound perceived
merge indiscriminately in cognition and absorbing it as a whole. The opposite
of the Cocktail Party effect where you focus on one particular sound in the
soundscape.
Two events exploring mass multi-verse thought, simultaneous playback and remote
listening.

Tickets
The library is a silent cacophonous space. Thousands of books, each reflecting
a culture and thought. This evening their volume will be turned up through
Acousmatic composition and abstract Concréte sound collage
LIONEL MARCHETTI Composer of Musique Concréte, improvisor, visula artist and
poet. He composed for the GRM since 1993 and as been involved in numerous
collaborations. Continuing work of poetic writing and a theoretical approach to
concréte music and art of the speaker, he attaches a sensibility and poetic
reading of concréte music to the tradition of Pierre Schaeffer, Michel Chion or
of Francois Bayle.
ERIC LA CASA Sound artist and composer of Acousmatic work and sound
installations. Beyond technical protocol, listening becomes tied up in the
surfaces of the world. Recordings, sonic readings, open out into a musical form
which reactivate a perception of that which surrounds us, whether visible or
not, to be reinjected.
JOEL CAHEN Sound artist and mixer, he has been touring swimming pools with his
underwater deep listening project Wet Sounds. His sound aesthetic is informed
by its cultural associative properties as it does by his use of live collage
mixing techniques.
