TiE Delhi is pleased to announce the launch of a Special Interest Group
(SIG) that would focus on Social Initiatives. This initiative has been
conceptualized in response to the emotional desire expressed by members and
their strong interest to connect with different sections of society with a
view to both translate members' interest into substantial social
contributions as well as to encourage entrepreneurship across all sections
of society.

The launch event is scheduled on *7th March 2009 at ASSOCHAM House - 47,
Prithviraj Road, New Delhi from 9am – 6pm*. The discussions would build the
foundation for the SIG by not just identifying the real areas where your
contributions would be meaningful, practical and substantial but also by
providing a set of actionable starting points.

*The key areas covered in the seminar would include:*

*Recognizing Opportunities & Coping with Challenges*

An overall look at the dynamics of the social sector, the emerging
opportunities and challenges

*Mentoring & Talent Development*

One of the key challenges faced by the development sector is retaining high
quality talent as well as ongoing training for upgrading skills of the
project managers. Could need based, project specific mentoring by
experienced professionals be a solution?

*Scaling up (Leveraging tech; funding, structures & processes) *

Session would focus on the various 'levers' that can enable effective
scaling up of projects through innovative use of technology, social funds
etc.

*Working with, and leveraging government support *

With huge investments and ambitious policies for the social sector, it is
imperative to understand the nuances of government mechanisms and develop
links to leverage the support available

*Bringing innovation and new approaches to the social sector *

Social sector today faces some of the most complicated challenges which
require more than a deep understanding of multiple fields as the development
sector has many resource constraints. Innovation is a great enabler to
overcome constraints and create efficient solutions
