bhavatpuurvaM cared bhaikSam upaniito dvijottamaH
bhavanmadhyaM tu raajanyo vaishyas tu bhavaduttaram

Let a holy pupil, of the best of the twiceborn [i.e., of the Brahmin class], 
beg by saying 'Sir' at the beginning of his begging formula;

let a kSatriya pupil say 'Sir' in the middle of his formula; and a vaishya, at 
the end.

savyena savyaH spraSTavyo dakSiNena ca dakSiNaH

With hands crossed, he must clasp the feet of his teacher:

with his left hand, the left foot should be touched, and with his right hand, 
the right foot.
