I know this is really a question about Old Persian, and not Sanskrit. But the
region in question seems close enough to the places where Sanskrit was spoken
to justify bringing this up on a Sanskrit list.
On the following map of ancient Persia there is a territory called Sagartia:

I found this reference on the Internet. It seems to be from a reliable source
though I'm confident that more verification is in order:

I also discovered a reference to the sylable 'asa-' which is said to mean

It may be naive of me to speculate that '-garta' might be related to the
Germanic stem from which terms such as garth, and garden derive.
Nonetheless, I will propose just such an etymology with the hope that someone
more expert than I can evaluate its worth. What do others make of this?
