Now the grammarian analysis: guNavR^iddhi pare = Beyond the grammatical rules of 'guNa' and 'v^Riddhi' ( this refers to the letters 'a' and 'u' yasmin pratyayAtmake na eva staH= in which the suffix (pratyaya) are (dual is used to indicate the two letters 'a' and 'u') not present. ('oM' is not derived using grammatical rules the 'M' is not a pratyaya of 'a' and 'u'.) budheShu saditi khyAtaM = Among the wise it is known as 'as is' (or as an avyayam???) tad brahma samupAsmahe = that Truth we investigate In other words the grammatical analysis focuses on the particle 'oM' (analyzed as a+u+M) which is an avyaya and has special grammatical rules (eg., Panini 6.1.95 etc) Raman I was unable to locate any Panini sutra relating to 'sat^R' or 'sanch'. Narasimhachar It was with great pleasure that I heard read out to me a charming Sanskrit poem composed by the well-known poet, Pandit Chamarajanagar Rama Sastri. The poem is in the form of a dialogue between Ravana and Sita. Each verse has two meanings - one plain and the other hidden. The epithets which Ravana is made to use either in praise of himself or in disparagement of Rama are such as give a contrary meaning by the addition, removal or substitution of a letter. The change to be made is very ingeniously indicated in the last line of each verse containing Sita's reply which outwardly expresses in a natural manner her indignation. It is gratifying to note that though the poet writes under self imposed restrictions, his verses are smooth and elegant. The poem bears ample testimony not only to the poetical skill and ingenuity of the authour but also the singular flexibility of the Sanskrit Language. I trust that the work will be duly appreciated. There are 16 introductory verses leading to the conversation between Sita and Ravana which is likened to a jharii meaning cascade. There are 50 such verses. Barring he first vandanaashloka the next 15 verses give a historical type of introduction. Since there is no puzzle in these I am just reproducing them for the benefit of the members.
