As you said rightly, there are many better tools today to maintain the Forums / Group Discussions, etc. I thought it would be helpful for others to clarify different roles you were playing as a "maintainer" of the mailing list :) 1. Webmaster 2. Web-hosting provider (or the one who made hosting services available for this purpose) 3. Sanskrit Subject Matter Expert 4. Moderator / Facilitator of discussions (protecting the sanctity of the website and discussions) 5. Project Manager (initiating, planning, coordinating, and completing various projects that contributed to encoding and publishing of various material) 6. Sanskrit Community Leader (inspiring the community members to join and contribute to the success of the site) I am not aware of the costs involved in maintaining this site now. As I own and maintain several domains and associated web hosting for several community service groups, I know it does cost some money to maintain the domain and the site. I do this as my little contribution back to society we live in. If it is OK with you, I can take care of the domain renewal and hosting services for this. I can also setup a matching Google Apps services that will not have any advertisements (like an Education Edition). Once we setup Google Apps, we can also have member emails, such as s...@sanskritdocs.org, etc. Plus we can really promote the awareness and use of Sanskrit using several communications and collaboration tools. To make it a long lasting endeavor, may I suggest the following? Let's establish a virtual organization with clearly defined Vision, Mission, and Goals. We can also have some basic policies and guidelines to operate this group in a sacred way. Sai - you have been playing several roles all these years; if you can capture some of your thoughts on these, that would be VERY helpful. We can also take this opportunity to capture what worked well and what we can improve in future. Once we form a core team and sub teams, Sai can still be guiding the teams - with much less workload. (because the work will be distributed among several Sais :) With Best Regards, Vijay Sai On Wed, May 13, 2009 at 10:30 AM, Sai <s...@cs.utah.edu> wrote: > namaH sarvebhyaH, > > (Also bcc'ed to the Campus Samskritam Network, an enthusiastic > youth group promoting sanskrit among univ campuses in the U.S.) > > I am Sai Susarla, the maintainer of the Sanskrit mailing list based in the > University of Utah.
