This information is then used for decision making and reporting. This Costing system will: Identify profitable and unprofitable shipments, customers and products/services. Provide information to formulate new business strategies to increase profitable shipments, customers and products/services and reduce the losses on unprofitable ones. Understand cost to more accurately set prices. Provide information to develop targeted marketing strategies to better segment their market toward profitable business. Identify and reduce unappreciated, unnecessary and therefore unprofitable value-added services. Drive cost out of the supply chain. Shift a greater portion of the costs of performing value added services to the customer or supplier.
