*Bioinformatics Developer* *Location: *South San Francisco CA *Duration: 4+* months Skills: MUST have at least 2 years bioinformatics experience! Responsibilities: * Managing Linux workstation and server environment. Creating accounts, managing disk space etc. * Installing scientific software, specifically commercial and public applications related to protein structure prediction and sequences analysis, e.g. Blast, MSA, Charm, Pipeline Pilot. * Development and automation of workflows for bioinformatics processes, using Perl, Python and shell scripting. * Using LSF or Sun Grid Engine to distribute and manage large compute jobs. * Developing Java or .Net components for analyses and visualization of sequence and protein. Qualifications: * MS/BS in Computational Sciences or related discipline. * Bioinformatics: at least 2 years experience using common bioinformatics applications, e.g. sequence similarity, multiple sequence alignment. * Biological training a plus. * Software Development: Java, at least 2 years experience developing scientific applications. * Perl: at least 2 years experience in scientific application development. Experience with BioPerl. * Python: at least 2 years experience of scientific software development. * System Administration: experience administering Linux workstations and clusters. Software installation, account administration, hardware configuration. Red Hat and Platform LSF/Sun Grid Engine.
