The responsibilities include:
- Designing, developing and maintaining the PETS web service using .NET
(C#).
- Maintaining the test harness application using ASP.NET (C# code behind)
- Maintaining the FAT (Functional Acceptance Testing) console application
using .NET (C#)
- Providing support for the Analytical team with analyzing the functional
requirements for the PETS web service.
- Deploying and testing the PETS web service in Development, QA, and
Production environments.
- Providing operational support and troubleshooting the PETS web service in
the Production environment; participate in the on-call rotation.
- Producing and updating Technical Specification, Developers' Guide, and
other technical documentation as required for the project.

The required skills for this role include:
- .Net / C# development using Visual Studio 2008 or 2013
- Experience writing, maintaining and troubleshooting .NET web services
- Solid understanding of relational database fundamentals including
normalization forms, data models, and entity relationship diagrams
- Microsoft SQL Server experience writing queries, stored procedures
- Knowledge of XML and XML Schemas
- Knowledge of SOAP
- Experience with unit, functional and load testing
- Knowledge of object oriented analysis and design
- Strong communication and writing skills
- Experience working in a multi-faceted team environment where many roles
and skill levels are present
- Pro-active work ethic; takes initiative to find answers to questions,
propose solutions, and resolve issues


These skills are not required but are considered a plus

- Java/J2EE including EJB3, Web Services, etc.
- Eclipse IDE
- Ant scripting
- Experience with JBoss in a clustered environment
- Working with Microsoft SQL Server full text search



The position requires the ability to support multiple projects in all
development roles, mentor more junior staff, and apply technology
expertise. Software Engineers are able to manage an entire project in their
respective area and they possess a technical competency within their area
(i.e. applications development, Network/Systems Administration,
Business/Financial/Clinical Systems). Additionally, Software Engineers must
have the ability to negotiate the products and deliverables of a project.
They are also able to prioritize the tasks of a project�s time-line to
achieve the desired departmental and end-user requirements. They share
their expertise for the good of the organization by mentoring, coaching and
giving general direction to other teammates. They generally hold a
Bachelors Degree in computer science or other related field and commonly
have 5+ years� experience.
