*Title*: VMWare Systems Administrator
*Location:*  Can be located or willing to relocate to Frisco, TX, San
Antonio, TX or Irvine CA (If the candidate is not sourced out of Irvine,
CA, she/he may be required to travel to Irvine to receive approximately 5
days of training during the first two weeks of employment)
*Duration: *12 month contract

*SUMMARY*
Responsible for the support and maintenance of the client’s enterprise
VMware and Citrix XenApp Server Infrastructure.  This person will be a
member of a team of 16 Support engineers providing system administration
and support services. Responsibilities include the oversight of the
infrastructure as well as incident support, escalation, change management
and problem management.  Identifying and implementing process improvements,
and ensuring customer satisfaction.

*ROLE/RESPONSIBILITIES*
Daily administration of Citrix XenApp Servers
Daily administration of VMware infrastructure
Monitoring of virtualization infrastructure performance and troubleshoot
problem areas
Collaboration with management and system architects to asses near and
long-term capacity needs
Maintain/update (or create as needed) technical/process documentation
Develop, implement and maintain procedures, and associated training plans
for system administration, usage, and disaster recovery
Conduct research on virtualization technologies, services and standards to
remain abreast of developments in the industry
Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware and software upgrades
Participate in design reviews of virtualization related technologies
Participate in process development
Perform installation of ESX Servers, including configuration into new and
existing VMware clusters
Escalate functional issues as required, and perform proactive maintenance
to address root cause of failures
Perform incident response and problem management on Production and
Non-Production servers.
Maintain/update (or create as needed) technical/process documentation.
Follow client's incident, problem and change management processes precisely.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to fellow team members.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Advanced knowledge of VMware  – creation and supporting ESX, Virtual Center
etc. - Version 4, 5.0 and 5.5
Experience with installation of ESX Servers, including configuration into
new and existing VMware clusters
Experience maintaining and balancing Virtual servers using VMotion
technology
Experience with VCOPS for reporting and monitoring of system health
Advanced knowledge of Citrix XenApp 5.5 and 6.5 – Installation and migration

*REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES*
Project Management experience

Applied Learning / Functional Knowledge and Skills (e.g., Troubleshooting,
Maintains Industry Awareness/Industry Knowledge)
Change Management Skills (e.g., Being Flexible, Learning Agility)

*REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION*
University degree or equivalent work experience in the field of Computer
Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or other related field
At least 5 years’ experience administering VMware
At least 3 years’ experience administering Citrix XenApp
At least 3 years’ experience with business requirements gathering/analysis
At least 3 years’ experience in systems design and development
Proven project planning and management experience.
