Position: SQL Server DBA Location:Itasca, IL Duration: 3-6 Months List of Essential Duties Collaborates with a variety of internal and external parties (e.g. coworkers, users, state and/or federal agencies, etc.) for the purpose of providing and/or receiving information and ensuring project success Ø Coordinates database activities (e.g. refreshing, repairing database systems, upgrades, cataloging, access rights, security, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring data accuracy and availability and monitoring compliance with district policies and security procedures. Designs a variety of databases (e.g. disaster recovery and backups, server configuration, security, structures, logical data model, scripts and stored procedures, etc.) for the purpose of providing end users with access to accurate data. Develops a variety of database support processes (e.g. monitoring utilities, tech standards, tuning/optimization methods, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the stability and performance of production databases and the availability of stored data. Liaison with appropriate teams for the development of corrective actions or viable workarounds to resolve incidents Develops functional and system/software requirements from information gathered from a variety of sources (e.g. user meetings and/or interviews with internal and non-district staff, etc.) for the purpose of documenting/interpreting user needs, identifying needed data structures and creating a working plan to develop/change systems as assigned. Monitors assigned applications and related systems for the purpose of reducing application downtime and ensuring that assigned applications are available when needed Participates in a variety of planning and development activities (e.g. planning meetings, committees, user interviews, etc.) for the purpose of assisting in the creating short and long range plans Ensure all work is carried out and documented in accordance with required standards, methods and procedures. Troubleshoots malfunctions of database systems for the purpose of resolving operational issues and restoring services Upgrades databases for the purpose of ensuring their ability to use new and/or existing databases and related software. Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources (e.g. administrators, outside vendors and service providers, etc.) for the purpose of providing technical assistance, advice and support. Prepares a variety of materials in both written and electronic formats (e.g. state and local compliance reports, technical specifications, user manuals, memos, procedures, project documentation, flow charts, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information. Required: Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Engineering or related field Minimum 5 years of experience supporting a variety of SQL databases Experience with Working Offshore teams Working knowledge of or previous administration of SQL 2000+, SQL 2005, SQL 2008R2 and SQL 2012 Demonstrable knowledge of Windows 2000/2003/2008/2012 server O/S Experience with Performance tuning for SQL server, queries, stored procedures, views, etc. Ability to analyze existing systems and make recommendations on which technology best suits the business requirement for high availability, Disaster Recovery or high performance General understanding of networking/LAN/WAN/DMZ concepts Ability to read and understand code (Code-competency) for diagnosis, escalation to tier 4 teams Knowledge of troubleshooting tools and techniques related to networks and systems i.e. remote access tools, Windows Support tools, connectivity tests, etc. Experience with SQL Server Reporting services SQL query and report writing skills a plus Experience with Database Log shipping, Mirroring and Replication Experience with Disaster Recovery Desired: Working knowledge of the software development life cycle Experience in ITIL processes Insurance industry exposure Experience in MOSS/SharePoint technologies and well versed with concepts Experience in Microsoft BI -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Regards, Abid Hassan | Staffing Manager | [email protected] | Panzer Solutions LLC. | 45 Stuart Ave • K Unit • Norwalk, CT • 06850 |Fax: 203-286-1457 | Notice of Confidentiality: The information contained herein is intended only for the confidential use of the recipient.
