*Position : legacy system support* *Location: Houston, TX* *Length: 1 year* *Rate: $40/hr* *Background: Position is needed to provide development and support of crude legacy business critical applications for STUSCO. These systems are targeted to be replaced by Blueprint and as such, we have deferred many years of maintenance. Ongoing support by one analyst is no longer feasible. Due the size and complexity of some of the MS Access applications in this portfolio, and the recent migration to VISTA, components of the applications have become unstable. Additionally, several of these applications are targeted for early movement by the non-sap transformation project due to the failing hardware they run on and the desire to have all servers out of college station by year end. Job Description: Helps to resolve problems (eg poor performance) and faults (eg system failure) occurring in the operation of hardware and software - especially those requiring greater installation expertise. As appropriate, designs, codes, tests, corrects and documents moderately complex programs and program modifications using agreed standards and tools. **Skills and Experience: MS Access, VB, Vista, Office 2007, SQL Server and other relational databases. Considerable experience is required. Knowledge of Accounting principles and oil background is preferred. Breakdown of Skill Areas: Has a thorough knowledge of two or more of the software platforms on which the product(s) run. Has good knowledge of at least one of the third party software products with which the product(s) run. Has a rudimentary understanding of the business processes for which the product(s) are designed. Demonstrates good written communication skills. Contributes fully to the work of teams. Can plan, schedule and monitor own work (and that of others where applicable) competently within limited time horizons and complying to health and safety procedures. Has good inter-personal skills. Is well organized and practical, with a logical, analytical approach to problem solving. Pays careful, close attention to detail. Support may be provided both to users of the systems and to service delivery functions. Support typically takes the form of investigating and resolving problems and providing information about the systems. It may also include monitoring their performance. Problems may be resolved by providing advice or training to users about an application’s functionality, correct operation or constraints, by devising work-arounds, correcting faults, making general or site-specific modifications, updating system documentation, manipulating data, or defining enhancements – often in close collaboration with the system’s developers.* *Please send the updated resume of the consultant along with the rate, location and contact information.
