*Role: Systems Administration* *Location: Morrisville, NC* *Duration: 1+ year** Contract* Own operational responsibility for high-availability distributed, on premise and cloud deployed, systems with multiple PoPs worldwide. Managing large systems and developing automation and maintenance scripts using tools such as: Chef, Puppet, and vagrant, to scale the servers to meet user demand Keep the servers current on updates (test and production environments) with latest codes and patches. Making sure backups have been successful Monitoring the performance and security of the solution and as needed tweaking config files, or server parameters to get the most out of applications while working to limit the impacts of unplanned downtime Liaison with Architects, Developments Leads, and Amazon teams on troubleshooting and provide on-call support in a shared rotation for production incidents *Basic Qualifications (required):* 3+ years of systems administration experience in a large-scale production Linux or other UNIX environment. 2+ years of scripting and development skills in shell, bash, power shell, python, etc. Experience with provisioning and configuration management tools: Vagrant, Puppet, Chef, SaltStack or CFEngine In depth understanding of tiered security concepts (network, OS, application) and Security Group management, ACLs. Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services (experience with AWS stack is required, especially: Cloud Trail, Cloud Watch, Cloud Deploy, Ops Work, Cloud Formation, VPC Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field or relevant experience. *Preferred Qualifications:* Windows Server Administration experience Working knowledge and familiarity with high-availability, distributed systems and services in a hosting environment: including hardware, OS, storage, network, and database solutions. Experience in the development and rollout of technical operations processes. Experience in managing applications, trouble-shooting failures and recovery. Experience with process management tools (Remedy, JIRA, etc.) as well as operations policies and practices. Understanding of TCP/IP networking concepts and major protocols. Experience with capacity planning, performance measurement tools and reporting.
