Position : Business Analyst Location : Oakland, CA
Duration : 9-12 Months local candidates highly preferred * Work with stakeholders to help them understand their requirements within the scope of a project or initiative. Additionally, document current processes, data models, and desired processes.* The work includes eliciting requirements; brainstorming; analyzing documents and leading focus groups; analyzing system interfaces; interviewing; observing; prototyping; facilitating requirements workshops; reverse engineering existing systems; researching and collecting input via surveys and questionnaires. Under general direction of a project manager or Director define a solution that should meet the agreed requirements. Work includes documenting and analyzing end user, functional and quality of service requirements; modeling the business domain using process diagrams, flowcharts, data models; investigating behavior models using use case, user experience design, storyboards, wireframes, user profiles and user stories; verifying and validating requirement including development and management of the traceability matrix through to development of the user test cases. *Delivered artifacts include but not limited to:* * Functional requirements document * Business requirements document * User requirements document * Non functional requirements * Report specifications * Traceability matrix * *Requirements management and communication * * The work includes communicating requirements; resolving conflicts; gaining formal approval for the requirements; baselining and tracking requirements. *Enterprise analysis * * Under general direction of a project manager or Director, expand and define the business need, and propose a solution that could be implemented by the business. This includes work with enterprise architecture team, application services team and other ITS and business stakeholders to establish or enhance business architecture; undertaking feasibility studies, aiding the business sponsor and project manager in defining the Solution assessment and validation * Assess proposed solutions to help the stakeholders select the solution which best fits their requirements, and once selected how the business should prove that the solution meets those requirements and ultimately whether the project has met its objectives. Work includes evaluating alternate solutions, quality assurance processes, support through implementation and post-implementation. *Bachelors Degree in Business or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. * * At least 8 years demonstrated success in business analysis in large, complex business settings or university/college setting using best practice and standard business analyst's tools and techniques. * Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills and experience applying these skills to resolve complex business process and application design considerations. * Proven strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact professionally with multi-functional/cross-functional teams and varying levels of management. * Ability to communicate technical issues/limitations etc. to a non-technical audience. * Experience writing Use cases, developing swim lanes and business process flows. * Experience working on projects as a business analyst involving many different applications for a large organization. Business analysis efforts should include requirements, assessment of impact, proposing business solutions. * Understanding of higher education research policies and extramural projects.
