*Position : Linux System Admin * *Location : Denver, CO Duration : 6+ Months Phone then Face to Face* *Must be USC, GC or EAD-GC* *Responsibilities* · Responsible for design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems. · Performs engineering design evaluations. · May develop a range of products. Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures. *Job Requirements* · May require a bachelor's degree in engineering and at least 6 years of experience in the field or in a related area. · Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. · Works under immediate supervision. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. · 8+ years of experience in systems administration and engineering · Highly proficient in managing Linux based systems and cloud infrastructure · Strong experience with a variety of Unix/Linux scripting languages including python, Perl, bash *Additional Responsibilities:* · Architect, design, recommend, develop, evaluate and implement technical systems infrastructure solutions to support development and deployment of advanced IP video technologies and services. · Provide systems level management and technical oversight for all systems supporting VIPER labs. · Lead configuration management of infrastructure domains. · Manage large-scale fault tolerant and distributed virtual machine farms supporting various advanced IP video engineering teams. · Engineer deployment and support management solutions for UCS and VmWare systems in lab and production environments. · Development of tools and processes for managing Linux and VMware based servers. · Development and execution of load, capacity, longevity and stress testing of systems. · Perform capacity management functions for various lab environments. · Ensure the lab cloud infrastructure is highly available and reliable. · Testing and certification of code and systems releases from core systems infrastructure *Here are some of the specific technologies we use within the team's systems infrastructure engineering:* · Python · PXE · Bootstrap · Git · ESXi · VMWare · vCenter · vCloud · Centos · Cisco UCS · Puppet · Apache · Chef · Distributed object storage · NetApp storage solutions · Scality *Proficiency with the following:* · DNS, DHCP, PXE and Apache/HTTP · With blade server architectures · VMWare 5 · NAS/NFS storage technologies · Working knowledge of data center operations · Experience with distributed and scaled systems architectures · Strong knowledge of networking concepts (VLAN, TCP/IP, Multicast, Unicast, OSI) · Experience with how to scale systems depending on applications load and demand · Strong communicator and able to clearly articulate complex issues and technologies · Quick grasp of strategic and tactical requirements with the ability to propose creative and effective solutions · Ability to propose systems design improvements · Must be able to work independently, be self-motivated and handle multiple priorities · Capable of supporting hundreds of lab (non-production) systems both virtual and physical · Ability to plan, organize and document complex system designs · Experience with developing and enforcing standards and best practices in managing large scale cloud infrastructure · High attention to detail and strong ability to problem solve systems issues · Willing to take ownership of problems and see them through to resolution for all escalations for systems infrastructure related issues · Comfortable working in a fast paced agile environment.
