 *Responsibilities and Tasks:*

   - Day to day, hands on Linux operating system experience in a large
   enterprise (datacenter) environment.
   - Engineering of solutions for various project and operational needs.
   - Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware,
   peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance
   with standards and project/operational requirements.
   - Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
   - Contribute to and maintain system standards.
   - Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated
   approaches for system administration tasks.  Identify approaches that
   leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
   - Recommends policies and procedures for system use and services.
   - Perform daily system monitoring.
   - Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible
   intrusions.
   - Support daily backup operations.
   - Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
   - Provide escalation support per request from various sources;
   investigate and troubleshoot issues.
   - Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.  Coordinate and
   communicate with impacted parties.
   - Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis.
   - Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
   - Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource
   optimization as required.  Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as
   required.
   - Make rapid, well-informed, independent judgments in support of NAB’s
   business-critical systems
   - Critical thinking and analysis
   - Participate in design and code reviews.
   - Provide technical support for automation related project activities.
   - Act as a mentor for system administrators, system programmers, or
   others.
   - Ensure compliance with, and report on, Service Level Agreements (SLA)
   - Participate in on-call escalation rotations for 24x7x365 support;
   evening, overnight, and weekend, holiday and on-call work may be required.
   - Other tasks as assigned by management



*Skillset / Experience*:

   - Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline
   - At least *5 years of experience in Ubuntu, Red Hat or CentOS Linux
   server administration in a large (250+ VM / 100+ Physical) server
   environment*
   - Mastery of Linux including configuration, networking, hardening,
   shells, package management and basic scripting.
   - Experience with *server virtualization in a VMware environment*
   - Experience working with Puppet installations a plus
   - Knowledge of application/Web server administration Apache/Tomcat, PHP,
   MySQL and Postgres
   - Knowledge of DNS and BIND
   - Knowledge LDAP, and Active Directory
   - Knowledge of Oracle 11g administration, scripting/automation is a plus
   - Experience working with SAN infrastructure a plus
   - Worked with software repository and continuous integration tools such
   as GitHub and Subversion (SVN)
   - Solid understanding and working knowledge of complete systems
   development and deployment lifecycle and of all facets of systems
   administration in a large scale IT operations unit
