This is for my direct client opening for an *UNIX Administrator – **Columbia
**, **MD*. This is a 2+ month’s contract position. The Hourly rate is DOE.



Candidates need to have Red Hat and Linux clustering experience.

Minimum 5 years direct related experience as a Unix System Administrator.

Primary experience with building and maintaining Red Hat Linux systems
running on X86 hardware. Experience in cluster configurations; HP Service
Guard a plus. Solaris and HP UNIX hardware and software experience a plus.

Experience in installing and configuring basic network components (switches,
routers, wireless access points.) Involved in diagnosing complex problems in
integrating these components running customized software used to track
fleets of GPS enabled buses. Systems integration and test requires travel.

College Degree and certifications a plus.



These are the tasks they will be doing.

Inventory of all parts, serial numbers, cables, servers, workstations, etc.
Attach equipment labels to all program HW.



Rack Installation: Rack mount all Server / networking components to complete
deliverable system. Prep rack for shipping as a single unit.



Installations:

·         Install and configure SAN on the Command View Server.

·         Create Luns and Partitions on the SAN and configure that to the
servers using Linux LVM.

·         Connect and test the fiber channel cables and overall operation

·         Installation of red hat Linux enterprise server 5.3 on 2
application servers.

·         Install red hat cluster SW.

·         Demonstrate that red hat cluster can failover between application
servers properly.

·         Installation of NIS or Ldap

·         NFS

·         DGPS system installation and configuration

·         Setup and configure system time source

·         Install current security and upgrade patches to all system
3rdparty SW as needed

·         Install Oracle 10gR2 on 3 servers’ 2 application servers and long
term database server (LTDB).

·         Install send mail and elm mail client on all servers and
workstations.

·         Install red hat enterprise Linux desktop on 15 workstations.

·         Installation of one Brio Reports Server

·         Installation of one ATIS server

·         Configure dual monitor operation on workstations and configure the
video cards to specifications

·         Setup and configure (3) laptops for remote use

·         Install (2) terminal servers and configure a 3rd for a spare

·         Install channel bonding on all NIC for failover purposes.

·         Installation of Legato networker agents

·         Test system backup and restore capabilities

·         Complete system imaging of baseline configured system including
workstations

·         Complete system imaging of post FAT system including workstations

·         Complete and submit all documentation listed below:

o   System Inventory documents

o   SAN setup, installation and configuration guide (Deliverable)

·         Networking :Install and configure 2 network switches to local area
networks

·         Make sure all fiber channel cables are connected to SAN Switch and
the server.

·         Ensure servers are networked to the local area network using
routers and switches and also all workstations are networked properly and
configure to the switches.

·         Switches are configured to aid failover.

Breaking down of the systems after the completion of the project

Packing of the equipments and making them safe to ship to Denver.
