Business Analyst
Location Austin, TX
Duration: December 31, 2009
Services expect to start as soon as possible and are to be completed by
December 31, 2009. Total estimated Worker hours shall not exceed 120
hours.
Services shall be provided on a part time basis of between 20 – 30 hours a
week during normal business hours unless otherwise coordinated.
Worker will be working with data from an existing data warehouse to improve
report design, documentation and organization. Prior experience with
relational databases including a detailed understanding of keys, joins,
indexes and filters, report design and documentation is required. *Knowledge
of Access and Cognos 8 a plus*.
The contractor will:
A. Review current reports, report documentation, and reporting
structure.
B. Recommend improvements on the documentation, report structure,
and formatting.
C. Assist in preparations related to moving from Cognos version
7.4 to 8.4.
D. Prepare report design documents and update report
documentation.
E. May interview relevant agency users to better meet the user
needs.
F. May identify and make recommendations for future improvements.
G. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Years Skills/Experience
5 Business analysis experience that relates to
report organization, tracking, design, and documentation.
5 Knowledge of and experience working with
relational data bases, including an understanding of joins, sorts, table
relationships, and grouping of data.
5 Working knowledge of MS Access queries, Excel
and Word.
4 Ability to quickly learn the business
processes and user needs related to the automated application and the data
therein.
Preferences:
Years Skills/Experience
5 Knowledge of Cognos reporting capabilities.
5 Understanding of Data Warehouse design.
5 Experience with data analysis and integrity.
