*Summary: *

Sentara’s Business Intelligence team seeks to advance and promote the
effective use of information to support Sentara’s business strategy. The key
components of this organization are BI Architecture, Data Warehouse, ETL,
Metadata Management, strategic project execution, and information delivery
through analytical tools and reports. The team is responsible for
recommending, deploying and maintaining the BI infrastructure used by
Sentara. The BI Developer, working with a BI Architect, designs, modifies,
develops and implements business intelligence solutions. Supports existing
Business Intelligence solutions developed by the team. Participates in the
testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and
certification of solutions. Provides technical support to project team
members. The BI Developer must be familiar with a variety of field concepts,
best practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan
and accomplish goals.**

*Essential Responsibilities:*
1. Assist in researching, designing and building business intelligence
solutions utilizing the following technologies and methodologies:
- Relational Database Programming and Design Concepts
- Multi-Generational Programming Languages
- Multi-Tier Concepts
- Advanced data modeling techniques, including star schemas, Kimball
methodologies and ETL strategies
- Database Clustering / Synchronization
2. Integrate and/or interface diverse systems/data to facilitate
building business intelligence solutions.
3. Assist with maintaining and supporting BI infrastructure which
includes internally developed and vendor supplied solutions with multiple
configurations and environments.
4. Production Control – coordinate and implement movement of units of
work between development, test, and production environments.
5. Produce and maintain internal documentation for the purpose of
design specifications, technical concepts, installation, and configuration
of systems.
6. On-Call support for internally developed and vendor supplied
solutions.

*Minimum Qualifications:*

*Experience*: 3+ years of enterprise-level Business Intelligence/ Data
Warehousing/ Analytics experience including relational and dimensional
modeling in a healthcare environment; Minimum of 6 years overall IT
Possess a thorough understanding of: **
· Best practices and methodologies in designing, maintaining and
building conceptual, logical and physical database models**
· Healthcare Industry subject matter expertise**
· Business Score Card/Dashboard design concepts**
· Full software development lifecycle**
· Database technologies**
· Data Modeling tools**
· Data Warehouse methodologies**
· OLTP, OLAP and DSS implementations**
· ETL design and implementation experience**
· N-tier technologies**
· Oracle or SQL Server or DB2 or other mainstream database

· Experience with Microsoft Business Intelligence stack:
PerformancePoint, SQL Server, SSAS, SSRS, and SSIS**

*Licensure/Certifications:* Microsoft Certified Business Intelligence
Developer on Microsoft SQL Server is desired.
*Key Competencies:*
- Must have high level of understanding and experience with building and
deploying Business Intelligence and analytics applications
- Developing experience in large data warehouse implementations using
Microsoft technologies
- Strong analytical, technical writing skills and the ability to
effectively communicate with customers, analysts, managers and executives on
technical and business issues are a must
- Strong organization, time management and project management skills
- Healthcare industry expertise in one or more of the following areas;
health providers (e.g. hospitals and other acute care settings, group
practices, ambulatory clinics, cancer treatment and research centers), and
health producers (pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device producers)
is desired.
- Strong analysis and problem solving skills.
- Experience in application design principles, practices, system
development methodologies, and software life cycles with a combination of
system and application architectures on large/complex enterprise project(s)
- Minimum of ten years of IT experience delivering quality scalable
software on time, on budget, and in compliance with customer requirements.
- Work well with others on the team to meet project milestones, manage
client satisfaction and mentor others on the team
- Be detail-oriented and result-focused with total commitment to team
success, excellence, and quality assurance
